Jobs
TABLE JOBS:
CLASSROOM JOBS:
- Pencil sharpener: One-two people at the table will be in charge of sharpening pencils for their table in the morning and before dismissal.
- Homework collector: One person will be in charge of collecting homework at their table and placing it in the correct homework bin. If someone is missing homework, then they must have that student write their name and assignment on a yellow slip in order to notify the teacher. Therefore, each student at the table is ALWAYS submitting something with their NAME on it.
- Custodial engineer: One-two people will in charge of keep the table basket, the desks, and the area around the table clean. If the table basket is messy, the table engineer must organize it. At the end of the day, the table engineer will wipe the desks down to keep them clean, and will make sure that all scraps of paper and garbage are picked up around the table area.
- Absent buddy: One person will be in charge of collecting all assignments for someone who is absent at the table. This person will have to collect graded assignments, homework handouts, and important papers for that absent student.
CLASSROOM JOBS:
- Paper passers: Two people will be in charge of distributing all papers that must be passed back to students.
- Homework scribe: One person will be in charge of writing down all homework assignments on the dry erase board.
- Classroom librarian: One person will be in charge of keeping track of who is checking out books in the library with a sign out sheet.
- Classroom computer technician: One person will be in charge of keeping track of who is going on the computer with a sign out sheet.
- Classroom messenger: One person will be in charge sending and retrieving information from the office and other classrooms.
- Teacher assistant: One person will be in charge of helping the teacher whenever it is needed. Example: making sure lights are off, making sure classroom jobs are being done efficiently, providing helpful reminders if needed, greeting classroom guests, etc.
Weekly Behavior Chart
![Picture](/uploads/3/2/1/1/32114425/5511883.jpg)
In our classroom, I use a colored chart to keep track of students’ discipline. The vertical chart will hang in the classroom and display four colors (green, yellow, red, and black) and each students name will be written on a clothes pin.
green = excellent behavior
yellow = a warning
red = inappropriate or repeated behavior/consequence (behavior slip)
black= principal’s office (behavior slip)
Each morning, every student will start out on green. Throughout the day, if a student misbehaves, they will be given a warning and will have to move their name to yellow. This will be their ONLY warning for misbehavior. If they continue to misbehave, a consequence will occur (ex: missed recess, no participation in fun class events, before or after school detention, etc.).
If a student has to move their name to red, then they will fill out a “behavior" slip. On this slip, the students will write down the color they received for the day, why they received that color, how they can fix their behavior, and the date. The behavior slip will be placed in their STAR binder where parents will have to sign it. Behavior Slips are another way to communicate with parents and keep you up-to-date with your child's classroom behavior (NOTE: more than one behavior note per week will result in a conference with the parent, teacher, and student).
The students will be in charge of keeping track of their daily behavior in their STAR Binders. Each day, they will track their behavior by circling the color they earned that day – green, yellow, red, or black. (This Behavior Chart will be useful in parent-teacher conferences so parents can see their child’s behavior progression.)

Classroom Behavior
INDIVIDUAL:
At the end of each week, I will check each student's behavior chart. Students with 4-5 "greens" will be entitled to our classroom lottery. Their names will be placed in a box where they will have the opportunity to win the following prizes based on the order in which their names are chosen:
WHOLE GROUP:
The entire classroom community will have the opportunity to win a pizza party based on whole group behavior inside and outside of the classroom. For each EXTRAORDINARY compliment they receive from another teacher or classroom helper, a paper ring will be added to a chain that will begin from the ceiling. Each ring represents good behavior shown by the ENTIRE class. In order to earn this ring, EACH student needs to be on task, participating in classroom activities, following teacher or parent instruction, treating adults and classmates with respect, and following all classroom rules and procedures. If the class is misbehaving or being disrespectful inside or outside of the classroom then they will lose a ring from the chain. Their goal is for the chain to reach the floor. Once it has reached the floor, the students will have earned their pizza party.
Students need to keep in mind that this is a WHOLE group effort. It only takes one student to prevent the rest of the class from earning a ring or even having a ring taken away.
