TEXT CODING
In every chapter, students are expected to text code (using post-its). This is an active reading strategy that enforces students to think about their reading and to read for a purpose. Here are the "text codes" or "thinking tracks" that we will be using: ? Question you have about the story or something you wonder ! Something that made you think “wow”, “yikes”, or “awesome” C a connection you made with another text, yourself, or the world * Something important in the story :) I agree! :( I don’t agree! Examples: (?)Why did… (?)How did… (?)Why do you think… (!)It surprised me when… (!)I can’t believe… (C)It made me angry, joyful, sorrowful (choose one) when…because it reminded me of…. WEEKEND CHAPTER SUMMARY DOCUMENT
